Such a fun opening. Morganne Blair Witchfield, Micol Hebron and our man Clyde Ashby performed for four hours straight! They were (and I'm sure still are) amazing. We had a great turnout and a dance party with beer and mixtapes afterward.

Fionn McCabe's "Hideout" silkscreen

This is a six color silkscreen modeled after a few Star Wars posters. It was printed with acrylic ink and ketchup and mustard so that it smells like a ball game (minus the beer).

These prints are available for purchase and proceeds will got to the SLC show. Contact Oh Nancy for details. Fionn's work can be seen on his website but his newer work is displayed on his blog here.

Arthur, Dan, Fionn and Nate got together and made these beautiful shirts, even though it's a product fundraiser don't doubt each design lovingly made. Lovingly. The air in the studio turned pink for awhile, it was weird. Go to the Oh Nancy homepage and pick up one these bad boys, the edition it limited to 24 shirts per design - so get'em while they last.

All the proceeds from the sale of these shirts will go the expense of putting on an absurdly ambitious and crazy show at GARFO in Salt Lake City this fall

Oh Nancy show in NYC!

This installment of Oh Nancy will be comprised of three main
components; bands, a guitar battle, and a football team. Here is
the breakdown so far:

1. The type of bands we have been kicking around thus far are
Mahi Mahi and The Toothaches, both of whom are great live.
There will also be other acts involved. If you know of any
amazing acts or bands that would want in on a show like this
please let us know.

2. The guitar battle will take place toward the end of the night
as this is the featured event. The battle will be between Bill Oolie
(the Corn Teams star quarterback) and the Grim Reaper. Both
musicians will perform in costume. While they will start out
solo, as the battle progresses the band will come in and fill out
the sound. Smoke machines will go off, lights will flash and
humble Bill Oolie and death himself will leap about the stage.

3. The other main element of the show is the football team’s
performance. This will happen periodically throughout the
night and serve as the glue that holds this event together.
These performances may be scripted or improvised but should
reinforce some sort of narrative. This could be the lead up to
the battle between Oolie and the Grim Reaper or it could be
something else entirely. We have a football team, so lets do
something amazing with them.

That's the crux of it.
We have a few venues in mind all of which have about a 100
head capacity. The show, which is being co-produced by
artist/performer Natalie LaChall, is tentatively planned for mid
to late September. We plan to make this a mind blowing spectacle.
We will advertise the hell out of it with press releases, flyers,
performances, stickers, sky writing, anything and everything.

Chris Brown and Bradford Hastings come through again with two unbelievable pieces.

Originally written by Nathan Wolfe Coleman for Bob Costas, Chris and Bradford have captured the excitement and awe the crowd must have felt when Bill Oolie threw the first (and only) pass ever to break the sound barrier.

Justice Marosa's Radio Dramas are known the world over for their twisted plotlines and their historical value. Written by Fionn McCabe and Produced and recorded by Chris and Bradford, this episode is one of the best known of the series.

Opening Reception June 13th 2009 7- 10 p.m.

Oh Nancy is a vehicle for artists that provides them with a pre-existing narrative structure into which they can fit their work. By having a constantly open submission process Nate Wellman and Fionn McCabe become instigators of a larger phenomena which has grown to include jewelry makers, photographers, sculptors, conceptual artists, and various other kinds of contemporary thinkers and object makers. The narrative, which includes a classic heroine and battling forces of good and evil is manifested through traditional American characters such as football players, monsters, and blonde damsels in distress. The exhibition at Gallery Diet will bring together all of these media, and the work of over thirty artists.

defaced the holiest of holy books by putting a hole
in the Corn Alliance Bible!

"Pig Iron Samson", a mechanical man who helped Edgar
Nash in a "pick up" game against the Hawkmen.
Though outnumbered, they defeated the Hawkmen,
but it rained heavily during the game and little by
little Samson began to rust.  By the end of that revered
game he was rusted solid.
"Pig Iron" is remembered as having given his "life" for
the honor of the Corn Team and Nash (his hero).

This piece is part of a mural that had been burnt
down by the disgruntled hawk men (who thought the rules had
been broken, that they had been cheated).

I've never seen anything like this in all my years doing football...no time left on the clock, Sheffield is lying prone in the endzone with the pigskin resting on his chest, and the Corn Team ...Folks, I don't know how to begin to describe what just happened here...Bill Oolie, channeling his Myrmidonian heritage, really let one fly, and it was all Sheffield could do to hold on to the thing...
